Terms of Use

Last updated October 19, 2026

These terms cover your use of rank.engineer, which is run by BracketBot ("we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them.

What rank.engineer is

An experiment by BracketBot: a leaderboard of engineers who applied to BracketBot, rated by software from the work they've published. A rating is our opinion, generated from public information. It can be incomplete or wrong, and it isn't a statement about anyone's ability, character or employability. A place on the board isn't a job offer.

Using the site

Seeing the board takes an invitation. If we let you in, the access is for you alone, and we may take it away at any time. Don't:

  • share your access with anyone else;
  • scrape, copy or bulk-download the board or profiles, or use them to build another database or train models;
  • use anything on the site to harass, contact or discriminate against the people on it;
  • try to break, overload or get around the site's security, or pretend to be someone else;
  • use the site in any way that breaks the law.

We may block anyone who does.

If you're on the board

Your profile is built from what you gave us when you applied and from what you've published. If something is wrong, or you want to be taken off the board, write to privacy@rank.engineer. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

Whose content is whose

The site, its design, the ratings and the software behind them belong to BracketBot. What people have published elsewhere, such as their projects, photos and writing, belongs to them; we show it to describe their work.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It's an experiment, and we may change it or shut it down at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, BracketBot isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the site. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to US$100.

Changes

If we update these terms, we'll change the date at the top. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in Delaware. If you live in the EU or the UK, you keep the protections your local consumer law gives you.
